These moments happen less and less, but on occasion, Scarlet and Greg are both in bed and I still have energy. In a swift moment I look around me and the house is clean, it's quiet, I'm alone and there is just "peace". I don't know why I put it in quotes. I was just trying to emphasize it. I'm rarely by myself. Scarlet is pretty much always within 5 feet of me, unless she's taking a nap. And the longest we've ever been apart is 5 hours. That's CRAZY!!!! In my moments of desperation I think, "Oh man I need a vacation. As soon as Greg gets a few days with no court, grand jury, training, or payback days . . . we're on the spot buying two tickets to Vegas and dropping Scarlet with Pat and Randy. " And when I'm feeling crazy I'm like, "Why can't that be THIS week." And then I have moments where I'm like, "What if we fly away and it happens to be the one day she goes BESERK and Greg and I are not there? What if she cries nonstop for 72 hours?!!!" And at the same time, I know no baby has ever cried that long- atleast I hope not. But my mind still thinks, "What if? What if? It's not worth it to traumatize my baby." But I mean, we want to, we need to and it's just going to happen one of these days. The question is just when. And I'm sure she'll be fine.
She's movin' a lot more while standing. Bouncing around and stepping up and down, but not side to side. I'm thinkin' soon enough she'll be sliding around the couch. Uh, I don't even want to think about how many things she's going to get into. She already does and she can't even go anywhere. Just the other night we were at Pat and Randy's and Chris was passing Randy, who was holding her, and Scarlet almost snatched Chris's pizza as he walked by. She's so quick! I can't really cook with her in the wrap, anymore, because suddenly her hand will be dipped in the tomato paste or whatever it is that I'm holding.
She eats all of her toys.
Man, as of tonight she is eating food! I was all pumped about giving her crackers the other day. I mean for months this girl was gagging on APPLESAUCE. And so I was very hesitant to give her much else and tonight she was eating our crepes! They had cheese and basil on them too. She just would take little bites off of ours. She LOVES to eat our food! Man, and she gets mad when she's out or you take it away. I've never seen her get like that before until I took her pizza crust away just yesterday and she was MAD.
The only trouble she has is keeping it in, sometimes.
Lately, when I look down at her, she just looks so little surrounded by tons of toys.
There have been some really sunny days and we are both getting a little suntan! I love putting her in little shorts or tank tops and seeing all her chub. I love it. Most of her life she's been all covered up in sleepers and long sleeves, so its nice to see her rolls.
So pretty much, all year my house has gone through versions of this-
Random pictures and frames against the wall. The last two weeks though, it's been worse than ever. I've been determined to finish decorating my house! We made SOOOOOO much progress yesterday! It made me so happy! It's amazing how much more cheerful a room can get with simple hanging a picture or two.
Scarlet drumming her drum. She's always liked "air drumming" with Greg and I found this little drum at a garage sale. It took her awhile to get the hang of it, but now she loves it! She loves when we tap our fingers or make any kind of hitting/knocking sound.
She's just a good little girl! She's getting more into her toys and better at self entertaining. That's been nice. She's startin' to get the hang of being on her stomach. Just like her eating, it seems right when I'm about to give up on something, all the sudden she's doing it overnight. I feel like that's how it will be with crawling. Just all the sudden she will. She's GROWING. It seems, without fail, everytime she has a 2 1/2 or 3 hours nap (that's especially long and has only happened a rare 3 or so times) I go in when she wakes and she is BIGGER. Just like that. Well, that happened this week and she's looked bigger ever since.
I'm tired. Today was crazy. Scarlet and I were up all night so we were both crabby from the start and then she had a lousy morning nap. So it was just a double whammy and made a lousy first half of the day. Then once things were finally looking up, I threw out my back while putting groceries in the car. So she's sleeping with me tonight so I don't have to get out of bed if she needs something. Greg's going scuba diving tomorrow so he's gone. Let's hope my back heals overnight. Yeah right. Why must we get older?

She is sooooooooo cute! I agree, she looks bigger and older. It is crazy how they do that!! The food pic and comment was funny! She will definitely be okay when you and Greg leave her with Pat and Randy. I have babysat Lizzie's kids so many times and they do just fine, even when they didn't know me as well as Scarlet knows Pat and Randy. That makes me so sad about your back. I hope it gets better soon!! Take advantage of the ibuprofen. I love and miss you!!!
Oh and THANK YOU for posting! I know what a pain it is to post all the pics. But it means so much to us!!
I love the post and thank you so much for doing it. I swear that baby is the most beautiful child born since her mommie. She is sooo darn cute. Always has a big smile on her face. great pics. She will be just fine when you guys are gone. She may pout a bit when you return, but not to worry if she does it won't last. She is so good and you are so blessed, plus you are a really good mom. I love you and who knows poppi and I just might visit with the Adams in Grants Pass and visit you too. We love you all so much hugs and kisses
Haha oh my gosh she is so stinkin cute. I really hope you still go to California! Sorry bout your back. Your not old though. Or close to it! You should put pics of your rooms when they are all done and decorated! Sounds awesome. Miss you and love you!
I am so sorry your back is out! that is so awful!!!!! that is seriously the worst. All the pics are so cute! She's getting older and bigger. She will be fine if you guys leave! You are so funny. She is not going to be traumatized! Why didn't you post the pictures you hung up? I want to see everything! I love your table and high chair by the way- so cute. love you!
You should totally take a vacation. Kids really are so flexible! Even if she cried for 72 hours(which would never happen) she would end up just fine. Plus it's easier to be a better more patient mom when you get a little break!!!!!!
Scarlet is soooo beautiful! She looks way to small to be standing up on furniture. How old is she?
Thanks for the email on geocaching. I don't check my email very often so I just got it. I think that we will try it. It seems like such a fun little adventure!
Oh yeah, I only wore the big hat to the pool. I tried to where it out on the strip because I had gotten sun burned, but it was to windy and didn't really work out.
Yes, come to Vegas! All parents need a break sometimes and Scarlett is such a good baby she'll be just fine for her grandparents. I totally understand the what -ifs though.
She's just too cute!
I love the picture of her in the jeans. It makes her look so old. You should post a picture of her in her shorts. I'd love to see her in them. That is so funny that she loves your food. Your food always sounds so good when you talk about it. It does. I'm sorry about your back. I know my dad would say, "Take some ibuprofen." He says that to almost everything. Anyway, great post and I hope you feel better soon. :)
She is so beautiful! Lydia's the same way, every time I give up on something, she'll start doing it, it's funny. Blayne got her to crawl by putting puffs on the floor and making her crawl for them, she loved it- hahaha. Although now she's into EVERYTHING!
Those jeans! Adorable. I know you hear this all the time, but really, as a mom, it doesn't get old... She is so so SOOO cute! I love the toys pic, and I think it's awesome that she's a little drummer already. Man, the piano... drums... she's already becoming quite the musician! I hope your back feels better. That's very uncool, especially when you have a chubby lil' girlie to lug around... ;)
