Amsterdam

Ok, I'm just gonna say it. Amsterdam just wasn't that fun. I don't so much think it was the city as it was JUST SO FREAKING COLD!!!! Cold like the moment you're outside and the ENTIRE TIME you're outside all anyone says is, "It's so cold." And we all shiver. You can't think anything but, "It's so cold." And all you feel is cold. It made it hard to enjoy walking around, which is usually my favorite part of traveling- just simply BEING in the city.

Waiting in a LONG line for the Van Gogh museum. That was really interesting too! They had all kinds of information about him. (Now I've forgotten, of course). But I think he only painted for like 8 years of something. And I think he killed himself when he was only 30! I just remember thinking he died so young and he created amazing art in such a short span of time. I was amazed.

This was really good. It was an Indonesian restaraunt. It was AMAZING!!!! They brought out all these dishes and we just shared everything. Everysingle bite was, "Oooo, I've never tasted this flavor before. What IS this?" Is was an adventure for my mouth. It was SO fun and soooooooooo good. Everyone had a good time.

In Amsterdam (atleast the restaraunt we went to) this is an omelet. Interesting eh? On toast with 2 giant chunks of ham inside. It was good.

We went to a flea market. It was like a giant outdoor Goodwill. Everytime I looked at this mannequin I thought he was real. It kept freakin' me out!

This part was really good. The Anne Frank House.

You couldn't take pictures inside. Such a bummer because they had her actual journal there! It was neat! It had a red and white plaid cloth cover. The house was empty, but her own quotes were all over the walls (usually having to do with that particular room). It was very moving.

On the tour you climb through the secret passageway. It is INSANE!!! It was behind a bookcase! GENIUS!!! It was really cool.

This was random. Afterwards there was this survey/movie thing. We all sat in this room and everyone had a button.

And then they would play some kind of video footage and then they'd post a question about human rights (what should be allowed, what shouldn't) and then you vote! And then the % of yes and no is shown. There were a lot of people in there- it was really interesting!!! But I think it's messed up because one time I voted YES and it said it was a 100% NO. So, I don't know. But it was interesting, because you think, "Oh, of course this isn't right!" And then you see that 1/2 the people in the room voted oppostie. But you don't know who it is . . .

Chris REALLY wanted to eat a Donor. We walked all around, hungry, looking for it. And when we found it- YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was SO STINKIN' GOOD!!!! Usually it's a giant thing of lamb roasting on a stick like this, but ours was chicken. It was so tender and yummy.

One thing I will say about Amsterdam- BIKES! BIKES! And more BIKES! They were EVERYWHERE!!! Just tons crammed together on every sidewalk!

And we found Bob the Builder on packaged meat!!!
