Happy V Day to Me

Ah, spending Valentine's alone. Greg works tonight, so I planned on not celebrating and then out of the blue he was told he could come home 4 hours early (8 pm) since he had to go in 4 hours early today. YES!!! What a surprise! I buy steaks, dip strawberries in chocolate and grab the sparkling cider that's just been sitting around, waiting for a reason to come out. Somehow, the house and kitchen get COMPLETELY clean and I'm looking pretty good too. My sweet babe is all the sudden taking naps that are longer than a 1/2 hour! That hasn't happened in atleast a week. I was beginning to lose hope and then she took 2 good ones in a row! YES!!! So 9 pm rolls around and I think, "Oh no! What if he eats before he comes home!" So I text him and he responds that he's going to be really late tonight. Darnit! The unpredictability of the job. It just happens. I want to say it happens SOMETIMES, but really it happens ALL THE TIME. I just plan on him being 4 hours late and then I'm only pleasantly surprised. Well, I cooked my steak and I gotta say, it was the best steak I EVER cooked. YUM. Marinated and oh so tender. I read up on the best way to cook beef and it paid off! I also made my mashed potatoes, which I haven't had in MONTHS, since I'm trying to decrease my waistline. Oh well. I just wish he were home. Or I wish it wasn't Valentine's Day and I could call someone so I wouldn't feel so lonely. But everyone else is with their man so I'm pretty sure they don't feel like chatting with ME on today of all days. Oh well. Oh, I ate too much. I feel sick. I wish I had cable and could have watched The Bachelor. Then nothing would be wrong! But I have to watch it tomorrow, online. Oh man, I feel like I'm gonna barf.

Want to know what's even more pathetic? Having a man home, and he spends the night on teh computer :) Yeah- happy valentines to me.

Or you could have a man who gets off at 6pm and has to be in bed by no later than 8 so he can get up at 5:30am to work out, go to work by 8am, and start the whole routine all over again...happy valentines to me too! And I hear ya about the over-time shifts...Wade gets a lot of those too. But at least the mid-month check is really nice! I loved the last few lines of this post--you're so funny!!!!

I am so sorry. We had a party with Lizzie's on Sunday and then on Valentines day my Mom went to Steve's to have the dinner that he made. It sounded fun. I am so sorry. :)

What a great deal on all those clothes!!! so glad the smoke washed out. i can imagine all the worrying and remorse. but, i'm glad it all worked out.

sorry greg was gone on v.day. maybe it's good you thought he'd get home, so you made all that food and still got some for yourself. but that does suck.

i pretty much don't like v.day. i just expect nothing and then it's all just fine. honest.

maybe you can teach me how to make steaks. it's so hit and miss with me. mostly miss. = )

love you. oh-scarlett is so stinking cute.

Hmmm, what did we do. Not much ourselves. Jeff, Gunnar and Brecken have these massive colds and once it hit 8pm Jeff and Gunnar were off to watch The Cape on tv. Oh brother. I headed off to watch the Bachelor. I've never been into this holiday beyond decorating and getting excited for Gunnar. Stinks you were home alone.

I'm not much of a valentine day person - we pretty much spent it watching the bachelor. That stinks that Greg ended up working but I'm glad you made the dinner anyways. You need to share what you learned about cooking steaks!
