Scarlet found Greg's helmet in our closet.
He's lost his "newborn-ness" and as excited as I am about him growing, I am sad it's already left! It's all passing WAY TOO FAST!!! I'm barely witnessing it! Everyone says it goes so fast and it is so much faster than they said. I wish I could've taken more time enjoying his littleness before it was gone!
I just can't believe how fast he's grown. I keep thinking, "Will he ever stop or slow down?!" Of course not. That's what they do. They grow. He's already 5 weeks!!! It's weird to think he wasn't around last month, that it was just Greg, Scarlet and me. He's definitely a part of the family. He belongs. We love him and he is so dang cute!
So apparently everyone loves my hair and it is beyond me. So I didn't want to go make myself unattractive, but I couldn't deal with my hair, so I thinned it out.
Trust me, this is not all of it. My hair is deceptively thick.
It is SO MUCH BETTER now!!! So much easier to dry AND wash and it just LOOKS better. I can do this for awhile.
Oh man, being a Mom of two is so hard. I feel our dreams of a big family slipping away . . .
I suppose it's still too early to tell. We ARE sort of in the hard stage right now. But I can't imagine being in the "hard stage" with 2 kids, or 3. Maybe it would be easier if I could spread 'em out more, but being that we got started in my 28th year and I don't want to have kids in my late 30's it might just be one more for us. We will see. Somehow waiting longer for the next one doesn't seem as frightening, but then I would feel like my time had run out for having more. As I said before- we shall see.
We are growing out of this apartment quickly. As silly as this sounds, we keep finding things at the dumpster and taking them home and buying this or that- a double stroller, more rock climbing gear, a toy kitchen for Scarlet's birthday and we are quickly running out of room!!! We already were pushing it.
I'm tired. I am always tired. Somehow, I forgot how demanding newborns can be. The first two weeks he slept all day and he did it all on his own. No more. I find my mind thinking, "I wish I could give my boobs to Greg and he could feed him- just this once." And often in the middle of a feed I almost pass him to Greg and say, "Oh can you finish feeding him while I go do this?" And then I realize, "Oh yeah, only I can do this." I don't know if it's that I only breast fed Scarlet 3 weeks or what, but somehow I forget sometimes that only I can feed him.
Scarlet says prayers now and we love it! One night we tried it and I thought it was probably too early, but thought what the heck, let's try it. The first one or two were sort of rough but now she says the bed time prayer every night! Short simple sentences are the key. It's pretty dang adorable and I'm glad we're doing it.
Scarlet is also growing so fast. She looks so much taller and seems so much older. I look at her and can't understand how I have a daughter this old. She seems way too old. I see so much of myself in her. Her latest obsession is looking for coyotes. And saving pigs from them. We're thinking this all came from Diego. Pretty much it's Greg and Scarlet that go hunting. They go hunting in the cave made out of couch cushions and the tent in our bed covers. They use flashlights. It's adorable.
She also says thank you. She's mastered please a very long time ago, but has finally grasped thank you. It's cute. She's also good about throwing things away. When I finish changing Brighton she'll just grab that diaper and toss it in the garbage! And same with her banana peels. So cute!
The week before I had Brighton I got called to be the Ward Chorister (leading sacrament hymns) and the Choir Director. I was pretty pumped but stressed about having a newborn for all of this. I've yet to do anything with them at all. I led sacrament meeting the day Brighton was born and have only attended church once since. Church is at 8:30am!!!! It is hard to get there on time. I was all stressed about choir until last night, I've finally mellowed out. I'm actually really thrilled about both callings, I'm just not sure when I'm going to be ready to get involved, since I'm nursing and life is just so unpredictable right now.
Later in the day . . .
I just went running! Can I really say running? It was technically jogging and walking. I haven't been running in YEARS. The last time I ran, I was very thin. This time running, was instantly different. Things were . . . moving. Particularly . . . the stomach. It moved up . . . then down . . . up . . . then down. Running with flab is a completely different experience. It was pretty depressing at first, but by the end I convinced myself I had already firmed up, but really, I just got used to the feeling. I lasted 20 minutes and then walked home for 5 minutes. As small as it is, I'm really pleased. Honestly, I pushed myself way more than I have in the past. I've never been good at pushing myself. I think it was easier because there were no long stretches of sidewalk, there'd be a stretch next to a building then it would cut into the parking lot, then back again. So it was easy not to walk or run too long and just decide as I went. Hopefully it's the first time and not the last.

I am glad you got your hair more managable. I love all the pictures and I think the kids are growing too fast, when did 5 weeks pass???? I think they are both so very cute! Love that Scarlet likes to throw things away, sounds like she will grow up to be neat. It must be fun watching them go hunting, so cute. Love you all
Wow! That calling is awesome but stressful! Yikes! You will do awesome. CUTE pictures. Brighton is just so cute! Good idea to thin your hair out. I had no idea it was so thick! I love the cute stories about Scarlet. She's so cute. Love you!
i love your description of flab going up and down- I have so been there!!!! hahah. And I remember thinking the same thing "so this is what it feels like..." haha. ahhhh post baby body. did you say you led the music the day brighton was born? brighton is so cute! he is such a little man. i love it. i feel the same way about how big our family will be- i wanted 5- then 4- now.. 3? I WISH i could have tons of children, but i just don't feel like I'm capable! I don't understand how mom did it! i love you!!!
Brighton is such a cutie, and your right they do grow up super fast. You mentioned how he is definitely apart of the family. It's crazy sometimes to even think about how life was before. You will do a great job at your new callings, how exciting. Holy cow, 8:30 is so early for church. I would probably always be late if that was our time. So proud of you for running, that is awesome. Keep up the great work.
Scarlet sounds so adorable! You need to post videos of her talking. We would all love it. I can't believe you have that much hair. It's not fair. I've always wanted thick hair. I hardly have any. It's barely enough to be. Thank you for posting. No one posts anymore! Love you!
We have a lady that had a baby and has the exact same calling you do. She has 3 other little kids under 6 too. She always sits in one of the front rows with her family and goes up and down to lead the music but when she disappears because she has to nurse or something for one of the songs, our relief society president just walks up there. I don't know if they have some sort of thing worked out but you can always do that with someone that can easily fill in for you if needs be. It will all work out. It is crazy how fast kids grow. I'm amazed at how I have a 6 year old. Time goes by way to quickly.
Great blob!! Scarlet looks so cute in that helmet. I miss her!! Brighton is getting so big you are right! He is very cute!! They do grow up too fast. Just when you think they can't grow up fast enough, they are grown and you say oh my where did it go!! Don't worry or think about the other spirits up there. They will come when they are supposed to and you will handle it great! Just think about the ones you have now. I wish I knew how to thin my hair. I need to go in It's getting hard to do again, plus the grow out is becoming more obvious. You don't know how gifted you are, I miss you as my hair dresser!!!! love and miss you all!! We forgot to call Greg on his b-day :-(
I am worried about running after I have the baby because of the flap of stomach skin. And the boobs. I just might do bike riding and hikes because I do not know how to control jiggly skin. At least Bella's trailer will convert well as a child bike trailer. I do have big plans this November for hill intervals and circuit training with some of my former athletes...
The kids are growing up so quickly. I can't believe how old Brighton looks compared to his newborn pictures.
Miss you guys and wish I could come visit with everyone else.
