I got this great picture from a friend's blog. This is what Bishkek looks like. This isn't our neighborhood but it looks a lot like this! Now you know what I mean when I say this place is pretty ugly. Ugly is definitely the word. Granted, it's looking a lot better these days because now the trees have leaves and so it warms things up a bit. I was just so excited about this picture because as strange as it may sound- it really captures what this place looks like. And now you know!
This is the other thing that's hard to capture . . . the MOUNTAINS. When they're not covered up by pollution, which is pretty much everyday, they look so amazing and you just wake up and they're there. They look so much bigger in real life than in the picture too. And they just pan out. It's awesome. But almost everyday there's so much pollution, they "disappear" and you see nothing. Pretty gross. I guess our neighborhood is more a combination of these two pictures. We live by a bunch of houses, but just a couple streets down are those huge, ugly, cement apartment buildings.
Greg took a couple friends rock climbing last weekend. This is him lead climbing.

While they were there- a COW FELL OFF THIS CLIFF all the way to the bottom! Yes, it died. They went and searched for it. I guess it was small! Sad!

The pictures though are really captivating. I just really like seeing new places and finding the beauty in each place. It sounds like the mountains are what you guys love the most about the place you live in. That's cool that Greg climbs. He has forever, I know, but I like to see the pictures, and aspire to do that someday. So sad about the cow :(
We have been unable to see our mountains lately because of the massive dust and wind storms. They last for about 2-3 months in the spring, it's so blustery sometimes, I can't even take live on a run - we'd just blow right away! I hope you're doing well! Love to you all!
Yeah that is pretty ugly if I'm being honest.
Okay- CRAZY ABOUT THAT COW! I mean, I would flip out. What if they didn't see it falling and it fell on one of them?!?! Like- seriously...this blows my mind to think about. And its really sad :( I would probably cry if I saw it happen!
Love you.
I'm just catching up on your blog. I can't believe that a cow fell off of a cliff!
sorry that you are getting tired and bored. I can't wait to see you when you come back.
