Well Greg and I went to a ballet of Romeo and Juliet on Valentine's Day. It just worked out that way. Some friends of ours were going and invited us to join in.

Greg, Me, French Guy (the blonde's date), Brandice's roommate, Brandice, Mindaugus, and Tristan

We LOVE Mindaugus and Brandice and see them pretty often. Minduagus is one of those single men here that have no women around to marry. Brandice is here for an internship and we've gotten really close to her. Tristan just popped into town for an internship as well??? I'm not really sure. He's lived all over and has a weird mix of Scottish, Irish and English for his accent. It's interesting, to say the least.
Well, first things first. I wore little flat red "ballerina" shoes for the occasion and bashed my toe 5 times atleast on the awful cobblestone. The sidewalks here are TERRIBLE!!! Suddenly there will be a whole stone missing, or one will just be sitting right there on top of the sidewalk. They're so crooked and unsmooth. It was so painful. I even started limping after the 4th one. I was sure I had broken my toenail and was bleeding, but somehow I wasn't.
It was wierd at first- not having any words. I kept waiting for someone to say something. I was surprised how well they were able to communicate just with body language. The Russians are supposed to be the best, but the first half of the production Greg and I were SO DISAPPOINTED. We didn't say that we were until the very end, because we blew a lot of money on this. The lead, Juliet, was absolutely amazing. I loved watching her. I guess we just expected everyone to be like her. The whole first half everyone was off, no synchronization at all. So much that I thought, "Maybe it IS suppose to be this way" or "Do I just notice more than other people? Am I too picky?" But everyone noticed. So intermission happened and Greg and I just kept our silence. But the last half was actually really good! Really interesting choreography and a lot stronger dancing from everyone. So all in all, we were glad we went and had a good time- but will never go again.
Among other things I am sick AGAIN!!! I hate this being sick business. What is the point of being sick? There is just no point. It is such a waste! You can't do anything. You just exist. This is the 3rd time I've been sick here. Usually I go YEARS between sicknesses. I don't know what's going on. It's weird because all through our marriage Greg was ALWAYS getting sick and ALWAYS around finals and midterms. He was always sick and I never was. And now it's reversed. I don't understand how I'm so sick and he hasn't caught it. It's just not normal for us. But it proves to me that he just gets sick because of stress, which I always thought before.
I'm supposed to give a talk sunday. Who knows if I'll even be able to stand for it. I haven't had the energy to even read the talk it's supposed to be about! I need to print out my talk to give to the translator. And I'm supposed to talk slowly so they can keep up with me. So this will all be a first. Hopefully it works. Greg did it last week and did a really good job. I just hope I can slow down. It's hard for me. It will be weird too, but maybe I'll speak better- I'll basically be reading my talk. Otherwise it would be harder to translate! So that will be different too! Usually I just make outlines, but I'm planning on reading word for word. We'll see how it goes.
Greg's been ridiculously sweet lately and making me soup and even spoon fed me (yeah, that's a little embarrassing but I was grateful!). The first time or two I was sick he didn't really get that he was supposed to take over and do everything for me. He's figured it out this week, that's for sure! I'm feeling optimistic because I can actually sit up and still feel good and my fever hasn't been happening today. It's nice to have a normal temperature in your body. So, though I still feel awful, there have been improvements. The Cole's have been great and really understanding. It makes me really uncomfotable to not be getting the housework done, but as soon as I start feeling nervous about it, they end up reassuring me that it's ok. They'll buy me Oreo's (because they're American) just because and they let me come home 3 hours early yesterday. They're really kind people and I couldn't be luckier in my job.
All this sickness has given me the excuse to watch ridiculous amounts of America's Next Top Model. I really love half of it and then the other half is 18 year old girls fighting and drama. Ugh. Not for me. But I watch it anyway. I've been watching so much bad t.v since I've been sick. I just need to be entertained when I get to work, but can't do anything. So I end up watching the E! channel because NOTHING else is on and it's just terrible gossip about the movie stars. I feel like I'm becoming more judgemental watching these shows, along with American Idol try outs, lately. Oh well, it will pass, right?
I tell ya, one nice thing about being sick is being together. I've really experienced the whole, "Prioritize your life and put your family at the top". How in talks they talk about filling your schedule with good things but it leaves out your family. Greg and I's weeks have been something like this lately:
Sunday: church, staying 45 minutes afterward to talk, going out with the sisters for splits or over to someone's house for dinner and staying really late
Monday: FHE at church, staying really late afterwards chit-chatting
Tuesday: French class
Wednesday: Basketball for Greg
Thursday: Elders Quorum Mtg. for Greg
Friday: Give a lesson at Institute
Saturday: Somebody's birthday or Ballet or something
And all these things take 40 minutes on the tram atleast to get to- and back again. So that takes away time as well. Not all these things happen every week, but Monday thru Wed, every night is busy and we're apart (even if we go together). They're all good things and we enjoy it, but suddenly we're never together! We've been noticing, but it's hard to find a reason to say no to something that is so "good". And the ward really needs attendance and participation. Greg switched his mtg. to Tuesday, so that opens up a night now. But I think we're gonna have to just start saying no. People will give us these "I'm gonna make you feel guilty, you should be doing this" kind of looks, but oh well.
Greg's been reading like crazy. He used to be such a slow reader and now he's just WHIZZING thru the books. That's about it. We're doing really well!

It sounds like you two are having a blast so far away from everyone in the states! We miss you too! I'm so sorry you are sick. I hope you start feeling better soon!
I hope you feel better soon Megan. I'm glad you guys are having fun besides sickness. Don't be afraid to say no. They are just lazy and pick on you guys.
That sounds like a great thing to go to on valentine's day! I bet it was fun to at least get dressed up and go out.
Sorry you're sick again...that is no fun. Maybe because it's cold there. In all your pictures you always look cold!
It was great talking to you, I was just sad it was so short. Thanks so much for calling!!
This si really strange, because the sickness you have is seriously what has been going on here, and it's wierd because i just thought it was like a travel thing- like- it travels through springfield, everyone's sick. But traveling to Europe? How does that work, but you have the same sickness, absolute weakness. I'm sos orry you have to babysit, I'm glad that your boss is so nice about it all. The ballet sounds cool. I've always wanted to go. You are so pretty in that picture, your hair is getting longer! I love you.
I love you Megan, and I am praying for you to get healthier. I think some years are like that, and others you don't. I have been fortunate this year, everyone around me has been sick and I haven't caught anything. I am so thankful. The only thing different I have done this year is take those vitimins Pre-natal plus Iron, because I am low on iron, and take vit. B-12 I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not? The doc said my iron count is better sooo maybe you should try some kind of vitimins. But you have to be really faithful and take them each day. Probably you already take some I don't know. I hope you can figure it out, as I know it isn't any fun getting sick all of the time. get better I love you sounds like things are fun and you look great! grams
Another thing Megan is to wash your hands at least 20 seconds. Wash them when you get off the bus and try not to touch any part of your body that has an open orfice. Our hands and the handles on doors and light switches etc all are germy. Just be a lot vilagant for awhile. Carry that anti-bacterial hand cleaner in your purse and try to clean off the push carts and things with some and a kleenex.
