Halloween

I always say Halloween is my favorite holiday. But I feel like a fibber saying that since I haven't celebrated in years. Not that I don't WANT to celebrate. In Eugene Greg and I went to the ward party and were the only adults dressed up. I felt like the other adults were looking at me like I was a little kid. So that killed dressing up the other 2 years. In Belgium we were sort of limited on resources and money and couldn't dive into our box of old costumes 'cause it was in Oregon. I have absolutely no idea what I did last Halloween. But it seems I haven't put on a costume in YEARS, where I used to average 3 costumes a year. I'd where one to the church party, one to work and then one to a party/friend's house. Dressing up is why I love it!!!

This year, I'm all alone with Scarlet. I'm tired. I really just want to nap. But I can't. I want to pee, but even that makes me wonder, "Will the doorbell ring?" And then it DID ring multiple times while trying to feed Scarlet. I don't know if it's 'cause they only spoke spanish or what, but it seemed like the first 10 trick or treaters didn't even say "trick or treat". What's up with that? Atleast 2 kids haven't had costumes on. If I wasn't all frazzled and in the middle of a feeding, I would've said, "No way. Come back in a costume." Some kid actually tried to come inside and WOULD HAVE if my door was unlocked. It was pretty funny hearing a parent yell, "DO NOT TRY AND GO INSIDE THEIR HOUSE!!!!" And what's up with grabbing a handful after I say, "Take one." And then, I couldn't believe this. This little girl rings and is holding 2 bags. Hmm . . . I think maybe she just knows a lot of candy is coming. No, she says the other is for her baby brother. BABY brother? I look up and see a BABY in a stroller. I'm pretty sure he's not gonna eat that candy. I wouldn't let my kid fib their way into more candy. Anyway, this is my favorite holiday and I just want to turn the light off and eat my own candy. How horrible. But my little friends on the street haven't come by yet so I can't stop yet. The night HAS gotten better. Some are smiling and yelling, "Trick or Treat" like they're supposed to and there have been some great costumes, but it's not even 8pm and I'm thinking, "How much longer? I just want to go to sleep!"

It is always hard when you have a baby! I hope your little neighbors come. Glad you had some honest ones that dressed up. It's hard to not say take a hike. When I got the big 16 year old boys with just a mask on or nothing I usually said something, but whoever was home would get all embarrassed that I said something. Then when all of you kept trick or treating till you were too old, I just let it go. love you!

HAHAHAH this is a hilarious post! I HATE IT WHEN A COUPLE COMES WITH THEIR BABY, and it's like "hello, we all know who's going to eat that candy, since your baby is STILL NURSING!!!!" I mean, it'd be like you and greg taking scarlet trickertreating. SO STUPID. I think it's so disrespectful. ANd then the kids who don't even dress up?! They don't deserve candy! You haev to dress up! I totally feel you on this Megan. love you-

Hahahaha!!! I am totally one of those parents yelling at Byron not to go into people's houses--he tried to walk into at least half of the houses last night! He wanted to see if they had a dog, where their door bell was (the part that actually rang, not the button), what they were watching on TV, what kind of pizza they were eating...yeah. That's my boy. Oh, and I also had to tell him (repeatedly) not to grab handfuls candy, and to wait for the person to put it in his bag! Oh the joys of being a parent! ;o)

haha oh dear. I totally agree on all counts. We didn't do halloween at ALL this year. Unless you count the fact that we ate a ton of Patty and Paul's candy. It's so annoying- the baby thing...like, collecting candy for a baby. So stupid. Love you!!!

I hate it when they don't say trick or treat. I think a lot of them are shy. And I honestly wonder how many of the kids know what they are supposed to do. The two bags though, oh brother.

Steve and I drove in an old fashioned neighborhood with decorated houses, and looked for trick or treaters, just so it would feel like Halloween to us.

Love you.
